The Amáte Tree

Introduction

Welcome to The Amáte Institute website

Our goal is to raise awareness and offer healing options for the condition of incomplete emotional development in otherwise psychologically normal adults, termed here adult emotional immaturity...at all stages of life. The Institute also offers specialized healing and support services for those in the final phases of their lives, their caregivers, those touched by addictions of all sorts, and individuals with alternative lifestyles, among others.

Statistics indicate over 80% of the adult population worldwide is not emotionally mature (Wareham, 1996, p.2). Serious personal, societal, and global problems rarely properly attributed to immaturity include: divorce, poor parenting, child pregnancies, domestic violence, addictions, PTSD and a range of anxiety related health problems, employment and educational failures, “road rage,” poverty, and terrorism. Perhaps most common and devastating are problems of unfulfilled individual potential and lack of happiness and peace.

Although adult emotional immaturity causes wide ranging and costly problems, it is not a mental or psychological disease. It is a reversible condition caused by premature stoppage of normal emotional development in childhood or adolescence…due to excessive fear or trauma….combined with the absence of sufficient love and security to resolve the fears and traumas. In other words…it is not the fault of the adult emotionally stuck in childhood or adolescence.

The condition results in inappropriate child or adolescent emotional responses in adult age individuals.

Reversing this condition requires identifying and resolving the early emotional stoppages through individual self-guided Inner Work, and then taking emotional growth risks leading to emotional maturity. These specific goals are not found in most traditional therapy options. However, they are found in Amáte Growth Work, a highly successful, short-term, intensive, cost effective, self-healing, spiritual but not religious process.

Clients who have undergone Amáte Growth Work have reported more consistent experiences of success and fulfillment in their emotional lives. Once unstuck and flowing, many clients have made huge life changes, such as entering or leaving love relationships, changing professions, and resuming or initiating educational or career preparation. Clients with children have become more functional parents and consequently healed family dysfunctions that existed for generations. . Those at the end of life and their families have benefited greatly from resolving life issues and gaining peace while experiencing the final transition. Individuals touched by addictions have achieved maturity in adulthood and vastly improved their ability to establish and maintain a quality sobriety. Those in alternative lifestyles have found the method particularly helpful in developing a profound base of self-acceptance and self-love.

Often clients have reported a growing dependence on inner spiritual guidance and support and a greater sense of peace.
Healers who have become clients have radically changed their healing work to reflect their emotional growth and maturity.
